Adamant Lust-April.13,2011
Submitted by mountainNun on Sat, 2011-04-16 09:45
April 13, 2011 Solo ascent/descent of the prominent South Couloir on Adamant Mountain, the 3rd highest peak in the Selkirks sitting at 3345m . The 55- degree line skis from the summit ridge splitting the face, straight down to the Adamant glacier below. It was a epic two day journey into the great cairn hut but once we arrived at the hut it was recover, refuel and dry out ! With a weather window and a good buddy (Rooster) to chill at the bottom of the line, I went for the summit ascending the couloir on my first solo mission ever. The climb took me 3 hrs, topping out of the couloir I walked the ridge to the summit 3345m. what a feeling!! The excitement of skiing what I had just climbed was starting to kick in! I love steep lines, I had to keep telling myself to be patient one turn at a time, the snow was variable and the line was committing. I skied over to the entrance ski cut the top feeling confident I started the descend in the sun with the glacier below. The line felt like it went on forever. . jump turning my way down the couloir. Once over the bergschrund the feeling of accomplishment set in with a relieving straight line back onto the glacier. A big high five from my very patient and stoked buddy! what a great day in the mountains! Thanks Rooster for the great trip and Rossignol for the sticks to shred on !!
