It has been a hot wet spring in Fernie this season, but we have been trying to make the best of it. When I got a call from Splitboard Steve so go ski Hole IN The Wall, I was skeptical of the recent melting, fearing the line may be unskiable. I thought to myself "never know unless you go ". So the next morning Steve, Ryland, and Myself set out into the slush covered slopes behind 3 Sisters. Not having the luxury of helicopters and film crews, like the professional snowboarders who had rode this line before us, it took some serious debris mobiling through the Pearly Gates, skinning, and bootpacking up the ridgeline to reach the top of this spectacular line. Once we arrived my skepticism changed to optimism, the line was perfectly filled in, and looked amazing. A ski cut sent a large pinwheel down the chute, but there was still some snow left to ski. It was so nice I had to do it twice.
