1)You must be logged in as a registered user. If you're not already, register using the "Log into Biglines" box on the left hand side of the screen, or on the forum page. Then Log in.


2)In the "Log Into Biglines" box, click "Manage Biglines"


3)In the window that comes up click "Submit Articles."


4a)Fill out your story:

TEXT

i)Click the destination box(s) to tell the database which section to put your story into. Click each box that is appropriate.


ii)Put the text that you would like to be seen on the front page into the "Caption" box. This should be no more than 3-4 sentences.

iii)Put the rest of the text into the "Article Body" box.


4b)Fill in the links for your photos:

PHOTOS

i) The best thing to do is to open up another window with your internet browser. (for most of you that means that you need to double click your Internet Explorer icon again.) You want to have two windows open to biglines.com.


ii) In newly opened window, go to the Photos section of Biglines.com (one window open to the photos section the other open to your story submission page.)

iii) Find the photo you want to put into the story and RIGHT click on the thumbnail. Click the "properties" heading in the box that appears.


iv) A new box should appear named Properties. In this properties box you will see a URL (the web address) for the thumbnail photo that you desire. Highlight this address by running your mouse over it and holding the left mouse button.


v)Once the address is highlighted, RIGHT click on it and choose the "copy" function.


vi)Now return to the window that contains your story submission and paste the URL address in the "Article Photo" box


The first half is now done

vii)Next, return to the Photos section window and close the Properties window that you used to highlight the URL address.

viii)RIGHT click again on the thumbnail of the photo you desire and highlight the "COPY SHORTCUT" function. This will automatically copy the link to the large sized photo in the database.


ix)Once again, return to the window that contains your story submission and use the paste funtion to dump the link for the large photo into the "Photo Link" box.



You should now have completed the photo submission process.



5)Click "Save" to save the story to your portfolio. Follow the links back to your story and click the "edit" funtion to return to editing your story. Edit your story as many times as you want. Make sure it is perfect.


6)Once your story is perfect, click "Submit" to submit it to the biglines database...
From this point on your story can be approved by a site administrator.

*Note*
Once you submit an article you can not edit it anymore; so please make sure the article is perfect before submitting.

Your submitted articles can be seen in your portfolio; click into "Manage Folders" in the "Log into Biglines" box to view your portfolio.

Knowledge of html code is a bonus but not necessary; please note that Dreamweaver code will not be accepted in our style sheets for the time being.

Please ONLY use photos that are in the Biglines database for your photo links. Using links from other websites becomes problematic when the links are changed. We want our stories to last forever.
