Whistler, B.C., December 20, 2003 - More than forty Santas came from as far as Salt Lake City, Utah to ski and ride for free at Whistler Blackcomb today. Elderly Santas, teenager Santas, and even a toddler Santa descended upon the slopes as a part of Whistler Blackcomb's "Santas ride free" day.

"We came early for this," said Barry Berg of Salt Lake City, Utah. "We saw
it on the website, and brought our Santa suits all the way from home."

Yet another Santa, who drove from Vancouver with bells attached to his ski
poles and mistletoe pinned to his red velvet suit, considered going to Mount
Baker this weekend, but changed his plans when he heard about Whistler
Blackcomb's Santa day. "I was thinking that I would go brighten up the
slopes in Washington, but how can Santa pass up a chance to ski for free?"
he asked.

"It was a sight to see," said Cathy Owen, Whistler Blackcomb's snowphone
personality, who went for a run with the Santas. "There were Santas
everywhere. People were ho-ho-hoing and following us to take pictures. It
was great."

The big question amongst the Santas and the Santa-spectators was, "Will this
become an annual event?"

"It's too soon to promise that we'll hold this as an annual event, but
today's success definitely means we'll consider it next year," said
Christopher Nicolson, Whistler Blackcomb Public Relations manager. "There's
a lot of spirit on our mountains today."

Whistler Blackcomb is now 100% open with over 7,000 acres, 5,280 vertical
feet of skiing and riding, and a Highest Level Terrain Park. For more
