The 3rd annual RIPZONE SNOWBOARD INVITATIONAL will take place April 16
-18, 2004 at Whistler, BC. Over the two-day event, $55,000 in cash &
prizes will be awarded to the riders who throw down the best runs & the
biggest tricks. Featuring SUPERPIPE - BIG AIR – SUPERPIPE QUALIFIER
Kicking off the legendary TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival
celebrations, the 2004 RIPZONE SNOWBOARD INVITATIONAL will once again be
the grand finale of the snowboarding season. Featuring Superpipe, Big Air
and Superpipe Qualifier competitions, the event will award over $55,000 in
cash & prizes and promises an unforgettable weekend of competitions and
epic parties – Whistler style.
Invitational night-time BIG AIR
20 of snowboarding's BIG AIR elite will be invited to compete as the Big
Air moves into the dark, and riders will once again light up the night sky
during the night-time contest at the base of Whistler Mountain.
Soundtracked by the beats pumping out from the DKNY//JEANS Concert Stage,
over 15,000 spectators are expected to converge on Whistler Village to
take it all in.
Invitational SUPERPIPE FINALS
Held on Blackcomb's infamous Superpipe, 20 of the world's best men and 12
of the world's best women will be invited to compete in the Superpipe
Finals on Sunday, April 18. The free flowing jam style contest is always
a favourite of the riders and the crowds.
SUPERHIT - Immediately following the Superpipe Finals will be the
rider-judged SuperHit contest where riders give it all up for the SuperHit
title and a $5,000 prize.
RIPZONE SUPERPIPE QUALIFIER
OPEN TO THE FIRST 60 MEN AND 30 WOMEN TO ENTER, the Superpipe Qualifier
provides an awesome opportunity for young and up & coming riders to break
into the industry and compete against snowboarding's finest. The top 10
scoring men and top 8 scoring women in the Superpipe Qualifier will
advance to the Superpipe Finals and have a chance to compete for the big
money.
You will be placed in the Qualifier on a first come, first serve basis.

Invitational). Qualifier entry fee is $60 (plus tax) and includes your
competition fees, an event gift and lunch on the Superpipe Qualifier day.

HOW TO GET INVITED:
TO SUBMIT AN INVITATION REQUEST FOR THE SUPERPIPE FINALS AND THE BIG AIR,
VISIT THE EVENT WEB SITE: www.whistler2004.com and select the RIPZONE
SNOWBOARD INVITATIONAL from the events menu. Complete the Entry /
Invitation Request form. All invitation requests will be reviewed by the
Design Team.
Invitations are awarded by the Competition Design Team who are involved
with designing all aspects of the event and who oversee the rider
invitations. The 2004 Design Team is made up of riders and industry
leaders (members being confirmed). The Design Team will invite riders
based on results from the season's most prestigious competitions, past
performances and
achievements. A few wildcard spots will also be given to next generation
riders. Results are reviewed from the following events (but not limited
to) the X-Games, the US Open and last year's Ripzone Snowboard
Invitational.
The Competition Design Team will be meeting in the next week to determine
the competition formats, prize money breakdowns and finalize the selection
criteria.
The deadline for submitting entry requests is Monday, March 1 and the
Invitation Lists will be announced March 8 on the event web site:
