FERNIE, BRITISH COLUMBIA – Event staff for the 2nd Annual Salomon Fernie Freeskiing Competition regrettably announce that the event for 2004 is
cancelled. The decision was made after looking at the competition venues and determining that snow conditions at the competition sites are not
suitable to this type of high-calibre skiing event. The best weather forecast available at this time does not indicate any sufficient changes in weather patterns to improve competition conditions in these steep, extreme
sites located in and out of resort boundaries. The event staff wishes to hold a safe and high quality event for competitors and felt that with current venue conditions this would not be possible.
Social festivities planned for Saturday, March 20 will go ahead as planned with the sounds of the Cranston Foundation at the Fernie Alpine Resort Griz Bar on Saturday.
