Setting the Scene:
Whistler Blackcomb is one of, if not the most renowned ski destination in the world. Known for its expansive terrain, non-stop night life and hard core atmosphere, Whistler is a skiers paradise. We just spent the past 12 days skiing our asses off every day, working and partying. Needless to say, the satisfaction and smile are still glowing in my body and shining across my face.

From the week of April 16th thru to the 25th Whistler experiences a phenomenon known as the Telus World ski and Snowboard Festival. This year topped them all for entertainment and events.
The Week kicks off with entertainment that includes live music, the Sawtooth Adrenaline Film Festival and an unreal slide show by Bruce Rowles. From there we moved into the goods of snowboarding with the Ripzone Halfpipe and Superhit - followed by the Evening Big Air. The whole place is abuzz with excitement as everyone culminates in the Center of the village to witness the goods.
During the Week:
Featured unbelievable skiing and evening entertainment. This week features the Pro Photographer Search, Pro Showdown and 72 hour Filmmaker showdown.
Final Weekend:
What more be said - how much does hanging out it the sunshine and watching the best Jib Skiers in the world toss themselves huge in a halfpipe - and then watching them flow smooth and clean off of the Big Air in the evening. That Friday featured the Black Eyed Peas and the McRail Jam. Super Schweet eh!.
But whats Whistler without the Skiing? - after all, thats what we live to do and why we come to this promised land. This is the true cream of the festival and what makes the whole event one of the best to attend in the world.
The Riders:
Rajun Cajun- Matty Richard
The Dommer
Cormeister
Dela - Matty Delasalle
Bazzy - Eric Crosland
Nix - Mikey Nixon
The trip started off right - after hearing complaints from many that we talked with - we were'nt too sure about the conditions, but then we realized.........Every f#*king day is a good one when you are skiing - even if the conditions are not the best - what could be better than being in the Mountains with your buddies improving your technical skills. It turned out that the skiing was far from shitty and more like cherry poppin pleasure. For 12 days we were able to shred the Gnar Bobia with the best skiers around.
Blackcomb Mountain:
Blackcomb is home to some of the sweetest terrain around - if you are looking for steep trees, pillows and cliffs be sure to head here - if you are looking for huge Alpine bowls, faces and couloirs - go here. If you are looking for mellow groomers and a badass terrain park, blackcomb is even the place for that too. They key is to hook up with a local who knows what they are doing and where they are going. The best terrain is fairly easy to access if you know where to go, but be careful - if you don't know - you can easily get lost and poo your pants when you end up on top of a 300 foot cliff that you didnt know was there. I got to ski some of the most technical and gnarly shit that I've skied in the last week - thanks to they good ol boys.
Whistler:
Ski Press Testing allowed for us to shralp the Whis all day long for two solid days. Epics were had on West Cirque, the Couloir, and all of the other sick faces and runs that you can see. The event also pushed us physically as this tester experienced some of the hardest bails of the season.
Night Life:
Its Whistler - Everyone is here from all over the world!
I didn't think I needed to say anymore.
Thanks
You Betcha. We want to thank all of those that helped make our experience a great one. From Big Bird and the whole Bird House - The Afore mentioned skiers, all of the staff that make the festival possible (that's you Kim, Christina and Mark), and of course Whistler Blackcomb. Thanks for the great times and we can't wait to join you again.
