“We’ll run the Red and Silverlode chairs beginning on Friday
morning,” said Red Vice President of Operations Jim Greene. “Our
Motherlode and Paradise chairs will start on the 17th as our 100-percent
natural base continues to build over the next several days.”
Greene added that Red will provide up-to-the-minute information on its
snow phone (800-663-0105) and home page — www.redresort.com — and issue
a media announcement as soon as it can confirm a full-mountain opening,
anticipated no later than Fri., Dec. 17.
“Conditions are already nearly ideal here at Red, and
they’ll only get better as the snow continues to fall over the next
week,” said Lucie Fortier, director of marketing at Red Resort. “We’re
excited and confident that visitors will find the Red experience better
than ever before.”
To that end, a number of significant improvements have been made at Red
in anticipation for the 2004-05 season. These include an extensive
summer brushing program which increased the resort’s skiable terrain by
a third, to 1,585 total acres. (Red will eventually expand to 4,200
skiable acres, placing it among the largest destination resorts in North
America.) Red also has a new beginner area featuring a 225-foot magic
carpet providing novice skiers and snowboarders a chairlift-free
introduction to the sport. Other on-mountain amenities new this year at
Red include a 6-acre (2.4 hectares) terrain park for skiers and riders,
the first in the region, and a new cross-country and snowshoe loop.
Getting to Red is now easier than ever. The new Red Express, a daily
shuttle service between Red Resort and the Spokane International Airport
