Max has been shredding the big mountain, stomping slick lines, hitting huge booters and greasing rails for years. Max Kuszaj, aka “The Massage” calls the Canyons his stomping grounds and has been featured in a number of flicks over the past few seasons. Max has been out shooting all season and is charging hard on some of the North American freeskiing circuit tour stops.

BL: Obviously you love to ski, and have managed to develop skills in all different disciplines of skiing. How hard is the transition from one discipline to the others?

Max:
The cross over of park skiing and big mountain skiing is the future of our sport, as far as I am concerned. I know that many athletes have stated this before me, but being a well rounded skier is what counts. I see all these amazing park skiers that cannot hang in the big mountain arena, and it disappoints me. Yes, park skiing is the driving force in our sport at the moment, and I respect it as much as I do big mountain freeskiing, but the cross over/transition is extremely crucial.

BL:Is the transition hard?

Max:
For myself, living in Utah allows me to appreciate the amazing resorts and backcountry terrain that we have. Living here makes you a well rounded skier without you even realizing it.

BL:What is it that makes you love to ski? What kind of experiences make skiing the best thing on earth?

Max:
I cannot pin point this answer. Is it the bottomless powder days when you choke to breathe? Is it the adrenalin running through my body when I am standing on top of an Alaskan line? Is it enjoying the sport with your friends? Is it the lifestyle? Is it stomping the landing on that trick, rail or line you have been working on and that amazing feeling of accomplishment? I think it is all of the above.
BL:

Whats the craziest moment you’ve ever had in the Mountains?

Max:
Skiing Alaska with Marc Andre Belliveau last season and having Marc fall down one of the most exposed lines I have ever seen anyone tumble down. The kid is lucky to be alive.

BL:
Whats the best moment that you can Remember in the Mountains?

Max:

This is also something I cannot pin point. Everyday I am out skiing and having fun is the best moment.

BL:
How does politics affect your skiing – if at all?

Max:
Come on…are these questions for real? (Max obviously has not been affected by the deep political rifts in skiing, the MSP's vs. the TGR's the Candian vs US vs Europe, the jib vs the big and steep)

BL:
Do you think Skiing is the key to world peace?

Max:
Am I supposed to think this question is serious? Are there a bunch of dirty hippies asking these questions?

BL:
Who do you spend your time shredding with?

Max:
Andrew Woods, Scott Hibbert, Jamie Pierre, Dave McRenolds, The Brothers Olenick, JT Holmes, The Collins Brothers, Chris Mineci, Jess Hall etc etc….

BL:
Who are you filming with this year and what past flicks can we check you out in?

Max:
TGR
Blue Ribbon
Level 1 Productions
Warren Miller

Past movies:
High Five – Level 1 Productions
Forward – Level 1 Productions
Strike 3 – Level 1 Productions
Second Generation – Level 1 Productions
Salad Days- TGR
Volume – Blue Ribbon Productions
Journey- Warren Miller

BL:
If you had 5 days to live – what would you do with them?

Max:
Run away to Vegas to gamble everything I had away!

BL:
What do you do to keep healthy and ready for every season?

Max:
Nothing too special…gym, mountain biking, and staying generally active. Eating healthy, keeping the alcohol consumption to a minimum, and being a non smoker help s a ton.

BL:

Last words/ Thanks?

Max:
Thanks to Biglines for running a profile on me. Thanks to all my sponsors who have given me the support I have needed to get myself where I am right now. Finally, thanks to all my friends for being the big jerks (just kidding) that they are.
