The past week has given way to two seperate avalanche fatalities in the Canadian Rockies. Our sympathy goes out to those in mourning, and wish them all the best at this time. The first accident occurred Saturday evening on Parker's Ridge, a popular touring destination. The father of two was burried under 1.5 meters of snow, and later died of internal injuries. The second accident occurred Sunday near Invermere while snowmobiling. We are all aware of the potential danger of travelling in avalanche terrain, but rarely consider the consequences of a potential mistake. Avalanche conditions are currently Considerable to High, and extreme caution should be excercised in all backcountry activities. Play Safe, and have fun!
