Panorama Mountain Village, B.C. — The mountain biking season at Panorama started with a record-breaking B.C. Cup event and will close with the Panorama Cup on Labour Day Weekend.
The Panorama Cup features a 4-Cross on Saturday September the 3rd, followed by a Downhill on Sunday. Invermere local and Team Giant rider, Aaron Clark, won last year and will be looking to go hard after a disappointing result in the B.C. Cup at Panorama. Another local, Darcy Lehr, will be looking to show the younger bikers a thing or two after finishing well in the recent World Masters event.
Trails will be in excellent condition for the race, with Panorama’s Bike Park crew working hard on maintenance through the season. The crew has also built a number of new features.
Bender was already one of the toughest trails on the mountain and now it’s even more interesting! Alcatraz (named after another infamous rock), features a massive rock drop, a teeter-totter expertly engineered by Frank Campagna, and a huge planked berm. Many other improvements are planned across the mountain for the 2006 biking season.
Riders can download the Panorama Cup registration form at www.panoramaresort.com or register by calling 250-341-4121. Spectators can view the action from several points in the Upper Village and near the Mile One Quad.
