Skiing with better skiers makes you better and skiing with fun people usually makes for a great day. This is what the Rocky Mountain Freeriders (RMF) is all about. Kids ages 10-18 get to ski Lake Louise with people that push them to improve while having a great time.
If you watch Warren Miller, Matchstick Productions, the Ride Guide, or read Skier magazine you know about our coaches; Eric Hjorleifson, Chris Rubens, Justin Francis, and Steve Hjorleifson. But, you may not know that all these guys honed their skills as RMF students before they became freeski superstars.
Guy Mowbray started the RMF 7 years ago and helped turn these skiers, and other guys and girls, into terrain destroying monsters. Now they are carrying on the legacy and teaching younger athletes how to shred all parts of the mountain, including park, big mountain, pipe, and pow.
For its 7th season, RMF is offering two separate programs. Saturdays are for ages 14-18 and Sundays are for ages 10-14. Both groups are based at Lake Louise, use video analysis, and are a whole lotta fun. The Saturday group throws in roadtrips, weekly prizes, and a few contests.
If you are a skier looking to have a fun season ripping and improving with skiers that challenge you, there is still room in both Rocky Mountain Freerider programs this season. Just contact Kevin Hjertaas at khjertaas@hotmail.com or at (403)609-1040 for all the info.
