As the 2005/06 ski season approaches, Alberta Alpine Ski Association, in cooperation with Ski Cellar Snowboard and Melrose Café & Bar, are pleased to announce the Calgary premiere of two of the latest releases from the cutting edge ski film studios, Rage Films and Theory 3 Media on November 15, 2005.
The action packed evening will take place at Melrose Café & Bar at 730-17th Avenue SW in Calgary.
Ski Cellar Snowboard will be there showcasing some of the season’s hottest ski gear from the top manufacturers, and staff will be on-hand to answer your questions. In addition there will be door prizes and a silent auction, both great opportunities to walk away with some great items!
Rage Films is an independent company located in Bend, Oregon. This year’s release, “Booter Crunk”, is the fifth film for Rage, which has gained a reputation for bringing emerging free-ski stars to the fore-front with films full of top-drawer action, humor, and great music. This new ski film takes the viewers through the exposed mountains of Europe, Alaska, Tahoe, Utah and Oregon. “Booter Crunk” follows the formula of music, lifestyle, big mountain, urban rails and monster sized backcountry jumps. The film features more than 50 backcountry hits and kickers and a private super park segment with features never before built, not to mention big mountain skiing with plenty of hair-raising descents and heart-dropping cliffs. Vancouver’s Theory 3 Media follows on the success of their 2004 release “Breath and Stop” with the release of “Safety Meeting”. The new film features a variety of talent and terrain from western North America, including some segments shot in Alberta, and some local talent! Spinny flippy things, big lines, bottomless white fluff and concrete playgrounds. Everything they could pack into a 35 minute, action packed, lighthearted ski film. A killer soundtrack, a funk music video intro, your favorite pros and up and coming free skiers unite in “Safety Meeting”. View the trailer at www.theory-3.com.
Proceeds from the event will go to support the Alberta Ski Team and the newly formed Alberta Development Ski Team. These teams together are 21 athletes who are striving to gain results at the national and international level, with hopes of soon joining the Canadian Alpine Ski Team. Last year Alberta Ski Team members claimed four national championships, two Pontiac GMC Cup Championships, and a silver medal at the World Junior Championships.
Doors open at 6:30 PM, with the Movies starting at 7:30PM. Tickets for the event are $15 and are available at all three Ski Cellar Snowboard locations, or from Alberta Alpine Ski Association: (403) 247-5966, info@albertaalpine.ca, or www.albertaalpine.ca
