At resorts there are the front lines, the men and women who rise before the sun. This dedicated crew starts working at your resort before it even opens for the season. They are up at the crack of dawn dragging their asses out of bed at ungodly hours to do the daily weatherchecks and the scope the snowfall from the previous night. This group of dedicated snow soldiers ensures that the best lines on the mountain are safe for us to shred. They put up snow fences, drop bombs and ski cut exposed terrain. Read on for the video.
The Front LinesThese are the ski patrol. They are the men and women who shape the resort into what you see. You'll catch the odd glimpse of these folks blazing down the slopes with a redcoat and cross on their backs, doing 'safety' checks on the gnarly lines to test the snowpack. They might be hiking up your favourite ridgeline to flip that sign from closed to open and then flash a smile as they lay down tracks right before you. We hooked up with Dave Isles and had a chance to walk in the shoes of the patrol and see what its like behind the lines.
Big Thanks goes out to Dave, Callum Patterson and the Patrol at the Lake. We also want to shout out to all of the Patrols everywhere around the globe who help make our skiing experiences bigger, better, steeper and deeper. You all rock and we appreciate you.
