It seems ironic that the terms “smart skiing” and “Lizard Headwall” could be thrown around in the same sentence. But after sending 50 rowdy athletes down a venue aptly described as technical, the only injuries worth mentioning are a few stitches and a busted hand. Read on and view the highlights reel!
Fernie Day 2Like a good course should, the Headwall sifted through the competitors and left the strong ones standing. Although, there were so many bails today that it looked as if the judges had no choice but to favour the athletes who hung onto their gear after eating shit. Indeed it was the combined nature of the scores that sent many of the athletes to finals.
A few hungry airs spread across the venue devoured the athletes that lacked in both precision and luck. The spectators knew that any competitor who crossed the line entirely upright would likely ski tomorrow. The Lizard Headwall is meant to host the finalists tomorrow but, looking out the window, the heavens are ralphing upon the mountains above. With the inevitable rise of the avalanche hazard, the atlhtes might be skiing elsewhere tomorrow.
