Golden has it all, the pow touring at Rogers Pass, the resort with 4 grand of fun vert, the slackcountry, great access to the Rockies in spring and last but not least some perty nice sled access terrain. If you have the opportunity to travel by lift, ski or sled Golden is definitely primed for your arrival. Is it a ski mecca? It is some of the best snow riding I have ever experienced.

Golden in March
We had (bp & the dominator) the wonderful opportunity to spend a few days in Golden this week with some local boys shredding the local gnar and can’t wait to get back. Pow skiing, sledding the lovely backcountry around Kicking Horse and riding the horse like hungry cowboys. All I can say is that if you have never been, you don’t know what your missing and if you have, you’ll have never seen it so filled in.
Kicking Horse resort is taking off, there are always cranes in the air, building new houses, condos and hotels, it’s turning into little Whistler in a Big hurry. There are a number of pubs and restaurants at the mountain base, hotels, condos, and quality ski/board repair shops like PETEX!!!
Not only is all the construction on the hill taking place, but the town seems to be getting more visitor friendly as well. Luckily for the ski bum, there are still a plethora of affordable accommodations and quality pubs like Taps that keep the eatin and drinkin affordable.
Getting to Golden from Calgary is also becoming a safer and more timely endeavor with the major euro style construction project on the 5 -10 mile bridge and the dublavay around Lake Louise.
Right now you can get some unbelievable deals on lifts and accommodation ($120 for 2 days and 2 nights) so there is no excuse to keep you away for the next and best month of the year.
Thanks to a bunch of quality local folk like Mike Nixon and Kiersten, Scott Kells, Tim Grey, Brendan McClean, Sean Cochrane, Paul Smith 'Poo', McPhoto, Eric Oxner and Jane
