Lake Louise Mountain Resort will be opening for the 2006-2007 winter season on Saturday, November 11.
The lifts will start running at 9am, with the Glacier Express Quad Chair. On Saturday, the resort is also planning to open the Sunny T-Bar for access to the beginner area. The Top of the World 6-Pack Chair and Summit Platter are also scheduled to open Saturday, much earlier than typical seasons.
The alpine area has a 55-60cm settled snowpack, and snowmaking efforts all over the mountain are providing good coverage from top to bottom. There has been over 30cm of new snow in the past 24 hours, with more predicted in the short-term forecast. Skiers and riders are advised that advanced terrain will be open in the alpine area, and early season conditions do exist.
Says Matt Mosteller, Senior Director of Business Development for the Resort, “Recent heavy snowfalls combined with the Rockies’ best snowmaking system will give us a great start to the ski season. Visitors this weekend will be treated to an early opening of the Summit Platter and Top of the World 6-Pack Chair. We can hardly wait!”
The lift price on opening day will be $34.50 _ GST, and all facilities, including the Lodge of the Ten Peaks, Powderkeg Lounge, Slopeside Café, Daycare, Ski School, Rentals and Retail Shop will be open.
