What makes you passionate about skiing?
There are a million reasons, but really…..It’s fun as shit.

What are your aspirations in skiing?
I have a bunch of goals for the season like getting my Avy 1, competing in more big mountains comps, etc, but my most important aspiration is being able to do this for the rest of my life.

Who are your current role models or who inspires you?
I am inspired by the people I get to ski with everyday. Whether it’s in the backcountry, at a comp or just shred rippin’ at the hill, I have met some truly amazing people and incredible athletes who have taught me everything I know about life in the mountains. While there are some wicked female pro skiers out there, I’d still have to say it’s my friends who inspire me the most.

What is your greatest personal achievement in the mountains?
Hauling my ass up to the top of grizzly peak in Rogers’ Pass then, at the end of the day, staring back up at the line we just skied in absolute disbelief. Skiing is so amazing. It always shatters the notions you have about what you can or can’t do.

How have you dedicated your life to the mountains and adventure?
I’m starting to realize that skiing has slowly become the governing force behind almost everything I set out to do. Since realizing that it was possible to graduate from university without going to school in the winter, I’ve worked really hard to make that happen. Summer vacation has become a thing of the past, winter vacation is the wave of the future. Right now I am attending two schools at the same time so I can become a bonafide Earth Scientist and hit the slopes.

Why have you dedicated your life to mountain pursuits?
The mountains are the place where I feel most like myself. They’re where I have accomplished things that I never before thought possible. They are the background of my happiest memories and I will continue to work like a bastard to make sure they are a part of my future.

What are some things the mountains have taught you that have proven valuable in the real world?
Balance and perspective. The mountains are an ever present reminder of my place in the universe. Now matter how big my problems may seem, they always pale in comparison to Mother Nature’s most daunting landscape. Yet on the other hand, if you take it one step at a time, you’ll be surprised how far you can get on your own two feet.

How will the scholarship enable you to further pursue your skiing aspirations?
I’m not nearly as passionate about being a waitress as I am about skiing. Trying to ski all winter and being a student in the off season has not, thus far, proven to be a lucrative endeavor (especially sans sponsorship). Any extra cash or gear hook-up would give me the freedom to ski even more and work a little less.

How can you be a Biglines.com ambassador?
I have been incredibly lucky to be able to spend the majority of my life in the mountains. If I could inspire other people, especially young women, to do the same, I think that would be the best possible way to give back to the community that has given me so much. Biglines.com is a forum in which this can happen. It is a great way to exchange positive messages with a worldwide audience.

I like the bit about making sure you spend the future in the mountains. Unexpected turns in life sometimes pull you away and you suddenly realize just what they mean to you -- if there was any doubt to begin with... Keep on rockin' in the free world and stay healthy raminatress!
