I don't really need to get into the gritty details, basically the usual start to an epic road trip me and friends Misha, Ross and Marc-Andre drove through a whiteout blizzard, arriving in Golden to heavy snow fall. Waking up to a 43cm in 24hr snow report and finding out the gondola's been closed for two days and it's been snowing everyday. Getting face shots on the blue runs and everything in between.

We had talked about heading to fernie, but as we pulled back into our motel it began snowing again. Fresh meat monday....didn't do ourselves any favors with the J.D. and the cheap beer, but none-the-less standing in the lift line (again) at 8:30am. On Tuesday it was snowing big, fat flakes all day. The base from the days before covered with 23cm of blower pow. It was hard to believe our good fortune as we did it all over again. It was snowing so hard during the day that our tracks were getting filled in every run, and almost no-one to be seen on the hill. The snow kept falling, all day, all afternoon, into the night and when we woke up to 30cm on the hill there was really no choice but to do it all over again. As we prayed to Bamzu for strength and agility while riding the stairway chair, a patroller looked up at us and gave us the word they'd be dropping the line and minute. Our legs screemed but as we dropped into the waist deep powdies on the other side we could not give in. Tonight, we're feeling pretty cooked, the roads are closed in all direction, and Sinbad (the front desk guy at the Golden Gate) just keeps ringing up our room tab, outside the snow flakes are still falling and even if tommorrow we don't get any face shots, at least we know we hit Kicking Horse at it's best.....Happy New Year!
Thanks to the powder posse, Misha, Ross, and Marc-Andre.
