Heading into its 17th year, competitive freeskiing arrives once again at Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort for the 10th Annual Subaru U.S. Freeskiing Nationals, which is both a part of the Subaru U.S. Freeskiing Series and the IFSA Freeskiing World Tour. Registration for the first event on the three-stop 2007 IFSA Freeskiing World Tour roster filled in only two days.

Competitors from around the globe, including Canada, U.S.A., Argentina, Sweden, Japan, Italy and France will battle it out for $12,500 with the men's and women's overall World Tour point leaders taking home $5,000 each. With approximately 200 competitors attending, the reigning Subaru U.S. Freeskiing Nationals champs, Nick Greener and Laura Ogden, will have their work cut out for them as they try to hold onto their titles. Also in attendance will be Subaru Squaw Valley USA Freeskiing Open winners Jamie Burge and Adrien Coirier. Coirier has won both Subaru U.S. Freeskiing Series stops and leads the overall points standings. Other contenders to watch include Jess McMillan, Chris Tatsuno, Olivier Meynet, Cliff Bennett and Tyson Bolduc.

"As we celebrate the 10th year of the big mountain event at Snowbird what makes it good remains the same –the varied terrain, challenging steeps and good natural features," said Snowbird President Bob Bonar. "We're looking forward to what is sure to be an excellent competition filled with local and international talent."

The world's toughest skiers push their limits on Snowbird's steep terrain during the Subaru US Freeskiing Nationals. The event will take place on various venues in Snowbird's Peruvian Gulch, likely including multiple days on different faces of Mt. Baldy.

"This new era of Big Mountain Freeskiing was born 10 years ago with the first Subaru US Freeskiing Nationals at Snowbird Ski Resort. A decade later this event continues to showcase the skill, passion, energy, and soul of winter sports," said Mountain Sports International President Adam Comey. "With over 80 inches of new snow in the last week, Snowbird is primed for the best skiers in the world to take to its slopes and we are looking forward to see what the next 10 years of Freeskiing has to offer."

Located 29 miles from Salt Lake City International Airport, Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort is North America's most accessible year-round resort. Snowbird offers five bars, 12 restaurants, 2,500 acres of terrain, North America's only skier tunnel and averages 500 inches of snow per year.

New in 2007, MSI will be posting same-day video broadcasts on the newly redesigned usfreeskiing.com featuring state of the art video and photo player technology. The daily uploads of video, photos, news and results of each day's competition action will be available mere hours after each day concludes.

Additional Subaru U.S. Freeskiing Series tour stops include the Subaru Jackson Hole Freeskiing Open at Jackson Hole, WY, the Subaru North American Freeskiing Championships at Kirkwood, CA, and past tour stops the Subaru Telluride Freeskiing Open at Telluride, CO, and the Subaru Squaw Valley U.S.A Freeskiing Open, at Squaw Valley U.S.A, CA.
