BL: What is SFC?
Bruce: SFC is a network of Christian riders made up of people with similar passions in snowboarding, skiing and our faith in Jesus Christ. Here in Canada this network has become a charitable organization with a presence in 9 different resort towns and cities.

BL: What is your role in SFC?
Bruce: I am the National Director of SFC Canada.
BL: Why have an international meeting?
Bruce: Skiing and snowboarding is a global movement. Much of our dreams lie in riding the mountains of Japan, South America or Switzerland. We are world travelers who are always looking for the next adventure. We have found there is much interest for SFC globally and we want to increase the strength of our network. We continually have people moving from one country to another, from one SFC chapter to another, and that’s awesome. It’s important for us as a global community to meet together and maintain our common vision.

BL: Why do you see a need for a Christian influence in resort towns?
Bruce: I believe the Christian faith holds some really good answers for the life questions that we all have. Many people all over the world believe in these teachings, from the poorest slums to the wealthiest banks. We are a part of this larger family, and we just happen to live in resort towns. The reputation of Jesus Christ certainly doesn’t rise or fall with us, we are just riders like yourselves who have had transforming experiences with God. If people want to find out what we have experienced, we are here to dialogue with them. There are many different worldviews represented in our culture and that’s healthy. I know many people have a hard time with some of the things that have been done or said in Christ’s name, and rightly so, as do I. But so far, the person and work of Jesus Christ has stood the test of time, and the impact He has had in my life and many others is outstanding.

We also really believe in our communities, they are great places to live and we try to pitch in and make them even better. We want the youth to have positive role models and to be given choices in how to live their own life. We want to see clean environments and stable housing, jobs, health care and education. The best places in the world to live really need to stay the best places in the world. We like serving people and communities they live in.

BL: How can I get involved?
Bruce: Just go to our website and find the contact closest to you, send them an email and find out how to connect with them. www.sfc-canada.com
