The world changed forever on December 2nd, 2006. The duct tape was cut and the hallions were let loose at the freshly sprayed Commit Apparel Snow and Skate owned by the infamous Laurin brothers, Matt and Adam. Hoards of E.I. abusers and other members of the snow culture descended on 3rd Avenue for the highly anticipated opening of the new shop. Commit brethren, led by foreman and Emo Superstar Mark Butcher, stayed into the early hours of the morning shaping a massive pile of snow pushed by the City of Fernie. The final result was a two tier drop in ramp, a BBQ gap and a unique dragon tail leading into a car jib provided by the Annex Army.

DasFX, cold beers and the buzz of the early snow season kept the faithful on
top of their game as Matt put finishing touches on the shop and Adam worked
furiously in Calgary to insure that the Commit clothing would be in stock by
the time the doors would finally open. He would arrive around five thirty in
the morning to find brother Matty face down on the couch taking in his first
hours of sleep in days. Adam wouldn't be so fortunate. His band, the Runs,
was the headliner at the after party the same night and through sheer
determination/consumption of champagne he somehow found a way to survive the
ordeal.

Opening day turned out to be a major success for the new shop and its sleep
deprived owners. When the doors were finally shut that night a large toast
featuring two bottles of bubbly and Cohiba cigars commenced with much praise
for the many people who had helped make it all possible. From Nana Laurin
and Aunt Sarah helping to peel stickers, to Momma Laurin and Mark bringing
endless rounds of coffee to prevent a collapse of wills, the shop's success
that day can be solely attributed to the incredible support group that
surrounds Commit. They provide the substance behind the name.

The 2007 season couldn't have gone much better for the brotherly duo. They
could hardly keep product on their walls all season. Their unique lineup of
upcoming brands proved to be extremely popular in Fernie. The shop has also
spawned a fierce crew of riders and skiers who you will find representing
their shop at events all over BC and Alberta. Commit is closing its doors at
the end of April in order to move to a new location on Victoria Avenue for
the 2007/08 season. With a scheduled opening for early September Commit
hopes year two can top the incredible season they had in 2006/2007. In
addition to the companies that stocked the store this year, look out for
more great brands such as Krew, Supra, LRG, Zoo York, Gentle Fawn and many
more.

Matt and Adam would like to send the most sincere shout out to everybody
that has made this venture possible. You are Commit, and we love you until
the end of time. You know who you are.
