BANFF-AB The Canadian Avalanche Centre and Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort invite you to attend Avalanche Awareness Days 2008, presented by Canadian Pacific. This year the national event will be held at Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard Resort, high in the magnificent Rocky Mountains just west of the town of Banff.

Media Registration
7:45 a.m. 8:30 a.m. Go to Skier Services, located above the Creekside Restaurant at the Sunshine Village Gondola Base. Look for the sign.
Morning Activities
8:30 Breakfast at the Lookout Lounge in the Village, top of the Gondola
9:30 Avalanche Awareness Days Opening Remarks
10:45 Avalanche Control Explosives Demonstration
11:00 Avalanche Rescue Demonstration
11:30 Avalanche Rescue Dog Demonstration
12:00 Lunch at Lookout Lounge
Afternoon Activities
2:00 Youth Avalanche Education Activities with Parks Canada
3:00 Snow Science and Transceiver Demonstrations
There will be many opportunities for interviews with front-line avalanche workers, snow science researchers, avalanche accident survivors, and some of the visionaries who are helping to make Canada a world leader in avalanche awareness, education and safety services. Public events are planned throughout the weekend; check www.avalanche.ca for a full schedule. See you at Sunshine!
