Fun events and activities are planned throughout the day including a team scavenger hunt for Ullr’s ski gear, Retro Fashion Show, and the most creative use of the Prevent Cancer Now bandana. A number of local businesses have generously provided prizes to support the Cancer Prevention Challenge including Red Mountain Resort, which has contributed the donation of a 2008-09 season pass. Prize giveaways and refreshments will be held at the Paradise Lodge with a wrap-up party and door prizes at the Rafters.
Guests are invited to join in the fun as individuals or as part of a 4-member team. The registration cost is $25 per person, which will be waived for those raising at least $100 in pledges. Family rates are also available.
The Cancer Prevention Challenge is one of a series of fundraising events across Canada, with proceeds going to Prevent Cancer Now – a Canada-wide movement to eliminate preventable causes of cancer. Prevent Cancer Now works through a volunteer network to raise awareness about the ways in which people can reduce their exposure to cancer-causing agents. Prevent Cancer Now is also an advocate for changing laws and policies to eliminate carcinogens in products like cosmetics and plastics.
