WHISTLER, BC, February 28, 2008 – Famed for its iconic trifecta of photo, film and fashion shows, the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival has been called the Sundance of the action-sports world, a tag that's even more appropriate this year with the world premiere of mountain-bike feature film "Seasons" kicking off the festivities on Friday April 11.
Following seven of the world's top mountain bikers Darren Berrecloth, Matt Hunter, Cam McCaul, Steve Peat, Andrew Shandro, Steve Smith, and Thomas Vanderham through four seasons of one year, the film has been in production for more than a year, to gather footage from multiple shoots with every rider, ranging from slopestyle competitions to World Cup downhill races to epic backcountry freeride shoots.
"The film has been a ton of work for everyone involved," says Jamie Houssian of The Collective, "so it's nice to finally see it come together in the studio. It's a new type of film for the action sports genre. We're stoked to show people something a little different".
While it began as a celebration of technical skiing 13 years ago, the TELUS World Ski & Snowboard Festival has morphed into one of the most encompassing celebrations of snow-culture and action-sports in the world.
"This is a place where people push the envelope," says Festival Director Sue Eckersley, "in whatever medium they work in. It's inspiring to be around. The cross-pollination, when you pack the place full of the best artists, musicians, photographers, performers and athletes, is tremendous."
The Collective, producers of Roam and The Collective have launched a new website and trailer in support of Seasons. The website is at www.thecollectivefilm.com and includes the trailer, rider videos, photo galleries, and more information about the film and its sponsors.
