Winter is definitely in full storm at Monashee Powder Snowcats. Unfortunately the lodge catskiing season came to a close this week. Luckily I was able to get a few deep turns in with Vernon's own Riley Leboe and Justin Dorey.
Monashee Powder Snowcats is located high in the mountains above Cherryville, British Columbia. The lodge boasts some of the best catskiing and hospitality in the province. Among the amenities is a high alpine outdoor hottub to relax in after a deep days turns.
The night we arrived high winds accompanied a fierce snow storm setting us up for some of the best skiing we've had all year. The avalanche hazard increased over night making the big alpine lines off limits for us to tackle. As usual we were able to find a plethora of untouched dreamy pillows lines that kept us plenty stoked throughout the adventure.
Weather cooperated bringing fresh dumps each day and night while providing nice patches of blue sky for shooting photos and video. Justin Dorey has been traveling around the World competing in all of the major halfpipe events and posting good results while Riley Leboe has been been living in Squamish and filming in the Coast Mountains of BC all winter. Each year we make a point of visiting Monashee Powder with aspirations of getting our best turns. This year was once again no disappointment.
Monashee offers a wide variety of skiing and riding terrain that caters to a variety of ability levels. It seems that cat roads twist and turn endlessly through kilometers of land. There are big alpine bowls, enchanted snowy forests and dreamy burnt treed pillow stashes. Check out the website to find out more.
