The Orage Masters- the self-proclaimed â"Anti-Comp"- went down today on Blackcomb Mountain. 8 teams made up of some of the best park riders from different ski brands battled it out in a head to head elimination. Serious names and serious bragging rights don't make this a serious competition however. Read on for the video and explanation of want may well be the way every comp should be.

A major part of the competition outside of the huge slope style course with rails and hits, was the excuse to dress up. More correctly, the rules stated each team needed to be dressed up. Volkl were Team Hasselhoff, K2 the Spread Eagles biker gang, Armada rocked out a Star Wars, and Dynastar were Vikings to name a few.

On a sunny, slushy _17 day, the teams battled it out with the likes of Sean Petit, TJ Schiller, Sarah Burke, Justin Dorey, and Franky Raymond just a few of the big guns on display. The format was a head to head battle with the other teams judging each round to decide who went through the next round.

Each round had a time limit and skiers were shuttled back to the top as quickly as they could launch every air and hit each rail. The course was big with rails at the top and then options to hit big airs or transfers with a stall box at the bottom to bring skiers back to the crowd for one more rail.

Everybody was going huge and loving the fun vibe of the contest. Teams were made of 4 skiers, 1 girl and 3 guys, and with more Monster Energy Drink than you could shake a stick at, skiers, team managers and the crowd were charged.

The final came down to Team K2 and Dynastar. Each team cycled through the course numerous times in a war of attrition. In the end though Team K2 rose to the top with Sean Petit going huge and the rest of his team following suit. It was unanimous with almost all 10’s from the other teams.

That was that. The champagne flowed as the rowdiest team on the course and off, began to party. The Orage Masters was an awesome event and a great way to kick off the Festival with a bang.
