Hello
kids I'm Cam, and I have a SnowJam report for you. The first night
of this huge brewery sponsored xtreme fest was to be a teaser for
the following full days events on Saturday. Quite the teaser. Quite.
The first thing on the agenda was a 4:00 practice round that the
Molson people conveniently labeled a jam session. Following that
was a brief hour break and then a qualifying round at 6:00. I made
it for a few jumps to see Dwizayne Wiebe throw down a head high
Mctwist. Then we all went back to the Ride, Rude Boys and Mission
tents (also known as the beermuda triangle)
Dwayne's fellow 138er, Scott Shaw saw the fun to be had at the
tents, and came on over as well, and the Ride tent became a small
drink fest. I didn't see Adam Balon grenading anything. Backpacks
are good with beer. At this point Friday was a small exhibition
for the events to follow on Saturday. Oh and Strung Out played at
8 on Friday. Singing; Bring Out Your Dead with Lifetime's, Reid
Stewart and my man G.
Buy Lifetime; Reid
Stewart and Trevor Flemming are nice.
Friday night saw some kids go to the Palace Night Club for the
official snowjam night. Good fit too, the Palace is so xxxtreme.
Other kids headed home to rest up for the fun to be had on Saturday,
while others, myself included, went to the Embassy night club. Many
kids went home that night with alcohol induced happiness, myself
included, and slept somewhere foreign to me. Food not Bombs
is a very good punk rock movement from the east coast and has been
around a while. They have chapters all over the world. I was wrong
in my assumption in thinking they are fatwreckepitaphish west coast.
My bad Reid, sorry.
judges also knew, that hitting a jump switch on skis is harder,
so they rewarded the skiers more for doing so
Saturday saw a trek from the source/newfie
house to Snowjam. Beer helped many a peoples journey. March march.
Kelly Bushman was punched in the face. Why wasn't Chris Witwicki
hitting the quarterpipe? Michalchuk is off Burton? Two very attractive
girls and incredible snowboarders by the names of Leanne (maneater)
Pelosi, and Joanna (better than my boyfriend) Majcsomethingsomething,
are starting a really cool snowboard camp aimed only at women. If
you can convince them of your femininity boys you are convinced
of a monopoly on the girls. Unfortunately your testosterone won't
make you better than these girls. They throw the hammer down, just
ask them to coach you to be better. Recognize. Check their site
at www.mgtsnowboardcamp.com
.
The Mission kids
were playing John D Rockafeller and running an illicit gambling
operation consisting of ping pong balls, small holes, and prizes
for all the kids. Bunch of carnies is what they are. New Rude
Boys owners Miniki and Shane were NOT seen rolling dice with
Mark and Brendan. ODD I SAY, ODD. Jay Dunn was drunk but not wearing
a wedding dress. His sister didn't compete. Has anyone seen Kim
lately? There was some jerk scaring girls with a loud phone, and
violating them with sticker applications. If you figure out who
he is, ya win a prize. Hi Stacey from Trojan condoms, I'm sorry
I forgot who you are, but I do now, you're from the Den. Your hair
looked different. I drink Mountain Dew not for the taste, but for
the image. The McCain pizzas were not free this year. I have to
note that hitting a jump switch on skis looks much harder than on
a snowboard, but what do I know. Oh the results.
1. Kelly Schovanek, quietly mctwisted at least 13 feet up.
2. Juston Lamoureux (see pic to left) spun like a
top. Much of it switch. He also recently signed pro with HEAD
snowboards. (click
to see a clip with Justin riding)
3. Scott Gaffney again proved why along with Kelly they are two
of the most underated riders in the rockies.
Jesse Fulton and Jonas Guinn rounded off the top five, fourth and
fifth place respectively.
After the finals was a jam session with skiers and snowboarders
matched against one another. Apparently the judges also knew, that
hitting a jump switch on skis is harder, so they rewarded the skiers
more for doing so. I didn't bare witness to much of this jam session.
Instead www.RideSnowboards.com
Rep Jamie Cormack ensured that the cooler was full, so many kids
were fully engaged in disemboweling the contents of that cooler.
Beware the beermuda triangle. What a dork name. So a skier won the
jam. He went home with money. Speaking of money there was a little
bit of a kafuffle with the money distribution to the winners. I'm
speaking on secondhand testimony, so if you have any thoughts on
the matter feel free to slander, err I mean discuss the matter on
our Biglines.com message
board.
Bye Bye Children
