Firefly forgot to mail that sponsorship check to me last week so
I will have to hold off on the novel and not bore the rest of you
with pointless ramble about every single minuet detail. So lets
get to the point. WSSI halfpipe champion, Jordan Monk threw down
corked 9's, flatspins, and flares with amplitude and earned himself
another $800. Second place was given to Jon Kozody, who had smooth
runs complete with switch 7's and flatspins, and third went to the
crazy Aussi, Ben "skinner" Murphy.
Day two, was the slopestyle event with athletes competing in a
two hour open jam format with the best runs of the day earning the
bling-bling. Josh Bibby picked up the coin with a solid run consisting
of many tricks, rails and a lot of other stuff that I can't remember.
It just happens to be that I like stuff too. Second place, and a
fair bit of money for the weekend, was awarded to Ben "skinner"
Murphy who pushed the envelope throwing down a cab rodeo 5, cork
7, railslide 270 off, cork 3 and finishing strong with a large flare
in the quaterpipe. Third place was picked up by Danny Campos.
Highlights of the weekend include: Micro grom Mike Henituck finishing
6th place overall of 38 and only being 13 and Justin Francis trying
the back flip to kinked rail in both of his runs.
If your still even reading this garbage I'm off to Whistler this
week to hook up with the rest of the crew but look forward to some
summer camp updates and some stories from the less developed parts
of the world later in the summer.
As well, I would like to pass on a special thanks to all the sponsors,
organizers, volunteers and athletes for making the series a success
for the second straight year.
