A group of local investors have jumped at the
opportunity to develop property at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort,
unveiling plans today for Copper Horse Lodge, the third boutique lodge
property to be announced at the resort in the last few months.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort Announces Copper Horse Lodge
Construction to Commence Summer 2004
Plans for the 10,000 square foot lodge include 10 guest rooms, each
offering sweeping views of the Rocky and Purcell mountains and a fine
dining food and beverage outlet featuring a unique wine list. There are
also longer-term plans for the addition of a spa facility.
The investors behind the project are all local tourism industry
professionals who have witnessed first-hand the significant impact this
growing resort is having among international audiences.
Jonathan Welsh of Discover Banff Tours operates tour packages in and
around Banff National Park and is one of the investors behind Copper
Horse Lodge. "Kicking Horse is the most exciting tourism project in our
region. Having worked in the mountain tourism industry for many years,
I know a great opportunity when I see one," he said.
Construction of Copper Horse Lodge is set to commence summer 2004, with
an anticipated opening during the 2004/05 winter season.
Build out of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is expected by 2010 - a mix
of town homes, single family lots, condominium lodges, hotels and
pensions together with shops, bars, other commercial amenities,
additional terrain, and a variety of recreational opportunities.
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, Canada's newest all season mountain
resort, is 2.5 hours west of Calgary on the Trans Canada Highway. For
