How have you dedicated your life to the pursuit of freedom, adventure and lifestyle?
For me, each is an adventure. You never really know what twists life will throw at you or the people you will meet along the way. Some of the most exciting days have been in the mountains, whether it is skiing in the winter or climbing and hiking in the summer. Two of my greatest passions in life are skiing, and my faith in God and when I am in the mountains, I feel the combination of the two.
Describe your best trip: past, present (last year), and future (upcoming).
Travelling to Vail Colorado this past season to compete in the US Open was probably one of the most exciting trips I've been on. For the most part I am a fairly relaxed and easy-going individual, but I have a competitive streak that runs deep, so the fact that I skied well and placed well before having to pull out due to injury, definetly make the trip a memorable one.
Looking ahead it would be exciting to see the x-games open up a women's category in skiers half-pipe or slopetyle. That is something I would be very excited to be a part of.
What are you trying to accomplish with your skiing/snowboarding? How is this significant to our community?
A little over three years ago I entered my first big-air competition and was the only female competitor. For several times after that I was still the only female competitor in many of the competitions that I entered. Last season, it was exciting to compete in a women's category at the US Open. Slowly there are more female competitors entering Big Air, slopestyle and half pipe competitions. It is great to see more girls out there on the ski hills building their abilities in the terrain parks. The process has been slow, but it's wonderful to see the confidence in the girls build.
Any other comments you’d like to make? (Thank yous? Statements?…)
I would like to thank my surgeon for putting me back together on more than one occasion. Injury is hard to deal with not only physically, but mentally as well, and hopefully we learn something good out of the process. Head, The Ski Cellar, Carrera, SMS, and Resorts of the Canadian Rockies. And of course I would like to thank my family and friends who have supported me, believed in my ablilities, encouraged me not to give up, and have always been there for me.
