Hello All! The summer has been interesting indeed. I joined the staff of Mentors at the Gulf Island Film School on Galliano Island, BC to supervise two of their extreme courses. It was a great experience and over two extreme weeks our crews managed to put out five great student films, which were shot in Vancouver and Whistler. See www.giftsfilms.com. It was refreshing working with youth again, seeing what they like as far as trends, and getting into their heads. Although we may still feel like teenagers at heart, it was really great to share some storytelling ideas, and get feedback with the younger lot. The students were aged from 14 through 19.

They impressed me with their sense of humor, computer savvy and intelligent writing. Although at times it was hard to see them goofing off instead of editing, but we
must remember what we were like at that age. In the end they put out some fine product, which will be entered in festivals around the world.

On another note my GOLDENRUSH film is also coming along great as we edit away with Ron Ireland, (see Goldenrush under expeditions and projects on www.explorex.net )

Scotty Fullmer is editing the “ Vertical Assault “ 3D film project in Banff and we are all keen to see the results of that endeavor.

As for the coming winter, more extreme film workshops are planned at various ski resorts beginning with Fernie (see schedule). We are also planning a way to make the Mexico trip happen, or Search For The Ultimate Run II, (also see expeditions and projects.) Greg Stump made his first film “ The Droids “ as well during a
1983/84-roadtrip session when our first film from Extreme Explorations came out. Greg has expressed interest in meeting up with us to celebrate en route as well.

We are now toying with the idea of allowing a few students, as paying clients, to join us for this incredible expedition. The itinerary is to drive down the Baja, leaving Vancouver circa Dec. 20th, 2003, take the Ferry to The Mainland, climb, ski and paraglide off 19,000ft Orizaba, Mexico’s Highest Volcano, then return through the mainland and Chihuaha province (Which rumors to have great ski touring in the high mountains in January, as well as exotic Indigenous Mountain Tribes living in the area as well.) All this brings great prospects and memories of exotic travel and
especially our experiences in Colombia SA with the Kogi tribe of The Sierra Nevada De Santa Marta. On the Mexico trip we would basically take all the toys; skis, Para
gliders, surfboards, mountain bikes etc. jump into a few vehicles and drive filming the trip. Along the way various statements would be made from globalization to human rights as we continue to mature in our filmmaking, hoping to come out with an enjoyable but informative documentary film with socio/political value as well. Stay tuned to www.explorex.net for updates, and book now as there is only limited space
on all projects and programs.

Sponsorship enquiries are always welcome on all of the above.
