Back in Banff where helis can’t fly.

April 11, 2008 <br />I spent the last week flying in helicopters which is one of the cooler things a skier can do. Unfortunately, we didn’t really ski anything that worthy.

Last week I was in Revelstoke skiing with Chris Rubens and Jen Ashton (name dropping) at Selkirk Tangiers Heli-skiing.

Matt Scholl was shooting pics for a Skiing magazine article. The light wasn’t really cooperating, but we got some shots whenever the sun poked through. Revy has been going through quite the avalanche cycle lately, so we couldn’t really get on anything steep.

Then I got home for a day of shooting around Sunshine Village for Dan Egan Entertainment. Dan makes a skiing TV show and for those of you too young to know, is a legend of extreme skiing with segments in a bunch of Warren Miller and Extreme Skiing movies back in the day. It was great to meet and ski with him. He still rips and I think he got better shots than any of the athletes that were brought in (Wes Harris and Izzy Lynch)!

Lastly, it was a flight up to Terrace, BC followed by a 3.5 hour drive up to Last Frontier Heli-skiing for a Ride Guide TV episode.

Stability was bomber and we had great weather, but the PR guy and guides were more interested in getting shots of the groups skiing with guides and heli’s flying around than in shooting Rachel Burks and I skiing anything cool.

We basically spent 4 days flying around looking at things we wished we were skiing and then heading back for après. It was definitely a fun trip though, if not really productive.

Now I’m back in Banff waiting for the weather to turn. It’s warm, but should start snowing in a couple days and then be really good. I’m definitely ready to get after it when things get stable again!
