The big mountain day was held on a heli-accessed face above Zermatt in PERFECT conditions, which made for one hell of a day of competition. In the end, the Euros crushed the Americas, largely in part due to Sverre Liliequist stomping a backflip...

Would you rather see someone flash a 1000 foot line in under 30 seconds, or slowly pick their way through a filthy chunk of rock and snow?Andrew Shepard, Dave Petch and I were the judges at this year’s Lake Louise Big Mountain Competition. And when we saw Adam McCraw flow down ER-3 in four turns and two 30(plus) foot airs, we knew we’d seen skiing worthy of a win.Adam McCraw channels Jean Luc...

Well, I’ve only touched a Southern corner of Montana, one time.  Crazy, for a person whom loves trout fishing and alpine skiing!  You bet.  I was traveling on a spring hiking trip with my wife from Yellowstone, headed West on US 20, back towards Idaho.  My initial, short lived adventure through this awesome state of Montana left me wanting to see and do more.

Like a scene out of the movie Groundhog Day, day three of Red Bull Cold Rush dawned just like the previous two: sunny and blue in the quaint, quiet, and historic Silverton, Colorado. The competition field of 15 men and 6 women ferried out via helicopter to the final venue of this year's Red Bull Cold Rush: the "Cliffs" portion of the competition. Set in "Zone 7" at Silverton Mountain, the...

It’s been a turbulent week in Rossland, BC. Our crew of one photographer and three competitors for the Canadian Freeskiing Championships arrived late Tuesday evening, the last section of highway 3 proving challenging in the snow storm. Greg Todds was a re-knowned Kootenay snowboarder who invented/started NoBoarding, which (for those who don't know) is riding with no bindings on a pad glued to a snowboard. He was tragically lost in an avalanche on January 13, 2005. Since then his memory has lived on in a gathering of friends and fellow NoBoarders every year at an event in his name.
