For the powder junkie there are few places on this earth where you are pretty much guaranteed a fix. One such place is Hokkaido, the north island of Japan. It snows here...a lot! Sapporo the capital receives more snow than any other metropolis with an average of 630cms every winter.

The standout from this indy shred flick would be Miikka Hast, of Jones snowboard fame, but the whole thing is a pow-filled adventure undertaken by a posse of excitable European snowboarders. And it's 25 minutes long, so it will keep you from thinking about the real world for a decent portion of your day....

The 2011-2012 winter in Niseko Japan has been a good one, almost record breaking in fact. At the begining of March over 19m of snow has fallen, that's almost 60 feet!I had the privilege of being back in town during a week of epic deep dry pow which Niseko is famous for. Unfortunately after having one of the best days of the season I learned friend and freeskiing legend Jim Jack had passed...
